The Regional Solar programme (RSP) consisted in the installation of 626 pumps and 649 community systems (lighting systems and refrigerators) in the 9 Sahelian countries of the CILSS |

| Description of the Actual Services Provided | The intervention of IED consisted in supporting during 4 years the country offices in the implementation and execution of the RSP II. Expected results are : - design and implementation of institutional and management frameworks for a sustainable operation of the water supply systems - consolidation of the systems installed in RSP I - improved services through innovative but reliable pumping systems with lower operating costs - strengthening of the private sector active in PV solar business. - design a Geographic Information System (GIS) website locating water supply systems within the country and reporting detailed information online related to RSP II systems (www.prs-burkinafaso.com) The project is bases on a demand driven approach from the villages, on an infrastructure management by local institutions and on a system operation by private operators. Conditions of implementation are to ensure a global financial balance. |
