A preliminary study in the Industrial Zone of Sidi-Bernoussi illustrated that the potential for energy savings (including electricity, thermal energy and water) is around 12% in the short term (investment with payback under 15 months), equivalent to savings amounting to 7 M Euros per year. The energy savings could amount to 25% if one includes the actions linked with process operations or with a payback of 36 months. The type of operations that would need to be implemented to achieve such savings include very short term actions with no or low cost (maintenance, operators behavior, better use of existing facilities) and actions requiring investment. The main objective of the project is to demonstrate the feasibility of a unique scheme, whereby risks for industrial companies are reduced by the introduction of efficient processes and the creation of a dedicated fund. |

| Description of the Actual Services Provided | The activities are : * support to the Association IZDIHAR for the animation and the sensibilisation towards energy efficiency, * implementation of two pilot projects, including - detailed audit, - feasibility studies and assistance to companies for selection of projects, - writing of tender dossiers, - assistance to the selection of suppliers, negotiation for performance contracting, - support for building financial solutions, - following of works and monitoring of performance. * on the basis of the pilot projects, a proposal for a major programme for the Industrial Zone will be developed and a project document will be provided. |
