Description : |
Hestia stands for Home Energy Efficiency Software Tool on Internet for Audit. Hestia is also the Greek goddess of the house. The aim of this project is to develop an Internet software, HESTIA, for a global energy audit in dwellings. This tool will be used by the end user, a flat or an individual house owner or renter. Hestia is currently developed for France, Germany and Spain. It is based on two existing tools, the Minitel tool « Your household, your performance » developed by ADEME and a Norwegian tool. Its main aims are to inform the final end-user on his/her energy consumption, foster a demand for energy efficient components and appliances and promote new behaviour patterns through calculation of energy consumptions, for heating, hot sanitary water, lighting and household appliances, and test several energy efficient solutions. The HESTIA software is proposing energy efficiency measures and equipments, building components replacement. Costs of proposed measures, energy consumption after refurbishment or appliances change are calculated. Consumer information, advice on patterns of use, about heating, standby modes for household appliances, are part of the software. Expected energy savings are variable according to the various country’s current energy efficiency level. They represent 10% to 60% for heating consumption, 5% to 30% for sanitary hot water, 20% to 50% for domestic appliances. Two levels of precision are finally adapted for this tool. The first level is designed to offer a comprehensive view of the energy consumption of the house or the flat, based on a very simple approach of dwellings. No calculation is required from the Hestia's user, the user is asked for a qualitative description of its dwellings, with only very few figures to answer. This level will propose a use of the second level. The second level requires more quantitative description of the dwelling, a better quantitative knowledge and proposes more energy efficiency measures to be implemented. Each level will inform the user on the different losses of energy in its dwellings, their sources and how its attitude can decrease them. Three others countries are involved in this project, Germany, Norway and Spain, and in total 6 companies. IED is co-ordinating the study and the development of the tool, working in parallel with an other French company to develop the screens for France and to adapt the energy efficiency measures to the French situation. |
