Description : |
This study, running from January 1998 to June 1999, grouping 10 European companies (public or private), is funded by the SAVE II programme of the European Commission. It aims to identify possible EU actions to improve the efficiency of domestic ovens and to develop a common basis for possible national actions (e.g., a technology procurement programme or education initiatives). Groups from 8 European countries are participating in this study. This study will investigate the spread in efficiency values for current domestic gas and electric ovens within the European market, and identify the scope for making energy-conscious design improvements. Where possible, data for the corresponding market shares of these ovens will be compiled. This study will also provide a method for calculating the total (annual) energy consumption of ovens and the relative influence of design options and consumer usage. This will allow the potential energy saving associated with policy options to be calculated. Especially implementation action of a label as already existing for washing machines, refrigerators, will be analysed. |

Description of the Actual Services Provided | In the framework of this project IED tasks are : * Co-ordination of task 2 on "Statistical analysis" and carrying out the analysis of the market of electric ovens. Task 2 includes also the analysis of the gas ovens market and the analysis of energy efficiency of ovens currently installed in the European households. * Carrying out task 5 on "manufacturer impact analysis" (impact of the proposed policies for the manufacturers). * Providing French national data as requested by the co-operating parties responsible for the other tasks. |
