Description : |
The objective of The Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) is to prepare a comprehensive and integrated Rural Energy Strategy and Implementation Plan, that included both electricity and non-electricity energy (prominently household cooking, heating and lighting and rural industries), that assisted the RGC: (i) achieve its household electrification target of 70% by 2030; and (ii) provide more modern, efficient, and less expensive energy supply and services to the rural household and industries and assist industries in the more efficient utilization of energy supplies. This plan has been divided into two modules: (i) Energy Strategy and Implementation Plan for Rural Electrification and (ii) Energy Strategy and Implementation Plan for Biomass Energy Supply and Demand. The objective is to lessen the negative impact of fuelwood consumption on the environment and woodlands and forests by establishing a policy and an implementation plan for : – Providing sustainable supplies to meet the demand at reasonable prices from wood fuel supply sources, biomass residue including rice husks, animal dung and agri-business processing plants and rubber plantations. – Improving the efficiency and introduce improved technologies into all aspects of wood-sourced energy and biomass residue supply and demand chains; – Improving the lives and income of the marginal poor that are presently engaged in the above supply and demand chains. |
