Description : |
Cambodia, the Philippines and Vietnam are the main countries in the ASEAN Region where wind regimes have huge potential for energy generation. The aim of the project is to promote and to facilitate investments in wind energy in these countries through feasibility assessment and capacity building. The project targets the key organizations involved in or responsible for wind energy development, policy makers responsible for formulating favorable policies and regulatory frameworks, and wind project developers and investors. The project includes 4 case studies for grid connected projects, which enables to conduct : - wind energy potential assessment ; - grid connection study - environmental impact study - policy, institutional and market studies - economic and financial analysis, including the opportunities offered by the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) At each main stage of the project, capacity building activities including trainings and workshops are scheduled for local project partners and other stakeholders (policy makers and decision makers on various government, wind project developers or investors, …) |

Description of the Actual Services Provided | In the frame of this project IED was asked to carry out multicriteria analysis of the various sensitivities and constraints of wind development (technical, environmental, humans…) through a cartographic decision tool that was developed in the North Luzon Region (Philippines). This tool aims to elaborate a synthesis map of the most favorable areas for wind energy development. IED intervenes also on institutional studies, on economic and financial studies, as well as identification of potential local investors. |
