This project concerns the socio-economic development of the locality of Tibati in Cameroon, capital of the Adamaoua region, thanks to a sustainable electrical service, provided by a private investor, IED Invest Cameroon, which will invest, build and operate for twenty years a hydroelectric power plant of 1.4 MW Objectives: - To provide a sustainable, low-cost, accessible electricity service to the population; - Improve the quality of life of the population and the development of productive uses related to the development of the electrical service in the Tibati area; - Demonstrate the capacity of private operators to be part of the reform of the rural electrification sector. This translates into the construction of a 1.4 MW Small Hydroelectric Power Plant upstream of the Djerem Falls, on the MBAKAOU Carrière site, as well as the construction of an electrical network of about 70 km of low and medium voltage network in order to connect 2800 subscribers spread over 8 localities in the Tibati area. This is the first example in Cameroon of the development of a profitable rural electrification project, carried out by a private sector investor within the existing regulatory framework, generating more than 50 permanent direct jobs and offering a strong environmental impact in terms of reducing the carbon emissions from electricity production. |

| Description of the Actual Services Provided | Upgrade power supply in terms of quality in the 2 localities already electrified by the AES SONEL utility with a diesel generator set by means of hydro-electric power injection. - Extension of the electrical service to suburban areas as well as small localities, efficient equipment spreading and promotion of the electricity uses by means of income generating activities (IGA). - First example of rural electrification project development carried by an investor from the private sector within the existing regulatory framework. Activities : (1) Study and preparation of the tenders (2) Execution of works and commissioning (3) supporting measures (4) Authorization Obtention (5) finalization of the financial and contractual devices (6) Dissemination and communication. |
