The World Bank, in collaboration with the Ministry of Hydraulic Resources and Electricity (MERH) and the national power utility (SNEL), is launching the first Global Energy Access Household Surveys in access deficit countries to set a baseline to track progress towards Sustainable Energy for All. The Word Bank is working from a common set of questionnaires and methodology applied in several countries to develop a comparable baseline. Surveys are planned in Kinshasa and North Ubangi (rural and urban areas and Gbadolite town), with a total sample of 4500 to 5000 households. |

Description of the Actual Services Provided | The FORCIER Research Department, specialized in the administration of surveys and having an office in the DRC, is in charge of conducting surveys, and wished to rely on an energy expertise of IED to: (1) make a diagnosis of access to domestic energy (including cooking energy) in the survey areas (2) support FORCIER to adapt the World Bank questionnaires to the specific context of the DRC (3) train the surveyors before the start of surveys (4) support FORCIER in analyzing the data collected. |
