The project objective is to model the impact of Albanian power market reforms through long-term planning based on several scenarios, taking into account dispatching rules, generation costs resulting from alternative technologies, existing generation mix composition, grid losses forecast, etc. These scenarios will provide insights on long-term investment in the sector (both level and technology composition), supply levels, forecasts generation costs (leading to wholesale market costs) and public subsidies necessary to support the sector. Artelys’ Crystal Super Grid software was used in the context of this assignment to provide the Albanian government and the Albanian Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy (MIE) the relevant information on the impact of the liberalization of the Albanian electricity market to define energy policies on the basis of a comprehensive approach. |
