Enclosed, without any exploitable fossil sources of energy and with only few financial resources to invest in the energy infrastructures, Burkina Faso is heavy dependent in the wood energy, has an energy bouquet dominated in 70 % meadows by the heat energy; its electric production depends at 85 % from abroad resources. European Commission has already reserved 5 M€ in Burkina Faso, for energy on the resources of the 10th FED within the framework of its national programming in conformance with the domain of concentration "intensification of basic infrastructures and interconnectivity". This amount must reach up to 30 M€. The terms of reference for IED activity covers: - Detailed identification of a solar program which offers largest possible leverage in terms of solar energy promotion in Burkina Faso. - Detailed Feasibility Study for a 22 MWp solar PV power plant in Zagtouli. - Production of tender documents for the same - Consultancy services in support of Management of construction work |

Description of the Actual Services Provided | 1/ First strategic orientations * Validated the relevance of financing PV plant connected to the grid (compared with CSP technology and hybrid PV-diesel systems) * dentified the main barriers to the development of the solar sector in Burkina Faso. 2/ Detailed Identification of a program to be financed * Conducted technical and financial prefeasibility study for a major solar power plant, including focus on grid ability to absorb its production. 3/ Detailed Feasibility Study and Design of a multi-MWp solar PV power plant * Conducted detailed Feasibility Study and Detailed Design of a 22 MWp solar PV power plant connected to main node of Burkina’s interconnected HV transmission grid. * Specific focus on adaptation to local context in Burkina Faso and cost reduction (optimized land use, limited excavation, use of local skills, etc.) 4/ Prepararation of tender documents for the 22 MWp solar PV power plant * Produced tender documents for international call for tenders for the 22 MWp solar power plant |
