IED INVEST is the main shareholder of JIRO KANTO, which has taken over an existing project. The project aims to supply hydroelectricity, as an IPP and distributor, to villages around Lac Alaotra, in the province of Tamatave, in the Alaotra-Mangoro region. At this stage, the project is structured as follows: - A production concession for two hydroelectric power plants, one at Androkabe (1.6 MW), and the other at Maheriara (700 kW). - A distribution concession to supply 49 fokontany in 19 communes. The project involves rehabilitating the Androkabe hydroelectric power station (1.6MW), installing the Maheriara power station (700kW), and then densifying and extending the 33kV power grid. The final isolated MV distribution network is 190 km long, supplying 6380 customers. |

| Description of the Actual Services Provided | The tasks of technical assistance are: . Support for opportunity analysis and development strategy . Definition of the terms and conditions of the agreement, validation procedures with the Ministry of Energy . Rehabilitation and completion studies for the Androkabe and Maheriara power plants . Studies for the rehabilitation, densification and extension of the electrical network . Demand forecast with analysis of income-generating activities, socio-economic study . Recommendations on the commercial management of users . Definition of operating procedures . Drawing up the development plan, negotiating tariff revisions, helping to find and raise subsidies and bank loans, and launching calls for tender. |
