TSCL operates a sugar refinery about 250 km west of Nairobi) that generates large quantities of bagasse, some of which is used to supply electricity to the site (8.5 MW power plant). TSCL wants to build a new 24 MW biomass power plant to recover all the bagasse, which represents an export capacity to the national grid of around 20 MW. |

| Description of the Actual Services Provided | IED provides technical assistance to the agro-industrial TSCL on aspects related to the connection of the biomass power plant: 1. Study of the connection line from the power plant to the national grid: • Evaluation of the different options for connection to the HV or MV network • Corridor definition • Support for the recruitment of an EPC for the construction of the line and associated substations (Preparation of tender documents and support for procurement; 2. Support on technical aspects during the negotiation of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). |
