Description :
This project goal is to establish or improve the National Energy Information System (NEIS) of the African Union Member States as well as the Regional Economic Communities (RECs) Regional Energy Information System (REIS), with the aim of increasing the energy statistics's quality and coverage level and developing the capacity to manage and use data in policy decision-making processes.16 countries and two Economic Communities Regional (RECs) participated in this project activities.

Description of the Actual Services Provided The mission is to conduct a dialogue with the national and REC focal points to carry out a technical and organizational audit of the energy statistics of the countries and RECs

The themes analysed are as follows:
• Capacity building of data collection, validation and dissemination;
• adoption of AFREC questionnaires for data collection and dissemination,
• Situation of the energy information system in all its organizational, human, material and technological/IT aspects;
• Gap analysis;

A report is drawn up by country (16) and by RES (2) with
• Development of a strategy and action plan to improve or establish an energetic EIS;
• Monitoring and evaluation indicators, timelines implementation and costs identification;
• Assessment of training needs.

Brochures are published and officially handed over to participating countries at the occasion of a high-level event held in Dakar, Senegal on 18-19 December 2025, for the action plans implementation in which the IED Consultant participated.
